Fall Organic Intern - 2025

Internship

The Intern will gain hands-on experience in the organic certification and agriculture industry, work closely with experienced professionals and mentors, and have an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects and initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Shadow certification specialists to learn technical review processes.

  • Support Customer Certification Specialists by reviewing land use history and inputs.

  • Help develop educational tools like FAQs and mock audit services for clients exploring organic certification.

  • Contribute to client mapping projects and analyze trends in noncompliance and risk data to support education and compliance efforts.

  • Assist with data collection, entry, and analysis for specific projects.

  • Collaborate with team members to achieve specific objectives.

  • Support customer relationship management activities, including customer outreach, feedback collection, and database management.

  • Conduct surveys with retailers and clients to identify market needs, interest in organic transitions, and supply chain gaps like Secure Food Supply plans or backup suppliers.

  • Help with cost estimates and fee collections.

  • Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other communication materials for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Attend meetings, take notes, and contribute ideas to discussions.

  • Salesforce account maintenance activities & support for Customer Certification Specialist teams.

  • Alignment of accounts and customers in internal systems.

  • Ensure all research activities and documentation adhere to company standards and regulatory guidelines.

  • Maintain accurate and organized records of research data, project milestones, and communication activities.

  • Perform any other responsibilities as needed.

 

Required Skills & Experience:

 

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program focused on animal science, agriculture, food science, sustainability, food systems, quality assurance, agribusiness, or similar degree program.

  • Experience with agriculture and/or food supply chain management such as beef/dairy cattle, poultry, crop production, swine, seafood, and/or consumer packaged goods.

  • Highly detail-oriented and self-motivated.

  • Adaptability, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

  • Teamwork attitude with a strong aptitude for professionalism and courtesy.

  • Ability to process a high volume of data in a productive and quality driven manner.

  • Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills.

  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing with internal/external staff, vendors, and clients.

  • Maintain alignment with Where Food Comes From, Inc.’s Mission, Purpose, and Values.

  • Maintain confidentiality.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Able to use standard computer keyboard and screen on a frequent basis

  • Able to walk up and down stairs and to sit for up to 8 hours.

  • Ability to use video conferencing tools, phone, and email for communication, which may involve speaking clearly and listening attentively

  • May need to lift or move light objects, such as a laptop or office supplies, weighing up to 35 pounds

 

Working Conditions: 

 

  • Castle Rock, CO office

  • Some travel required (~5%)

  • Internships are temporary with a start and end date each semester

Compensation & Qualifications: Compensation is $15 per hour for undergraduate interns and $18 for graduate interns. Interns are not eligible for benefits.
